Alden Groves is no stranger to adversity. Having overcome a severe heroin addiction in Colorado his teen years, he started the Evoke project while in rehab in 2012. Since then, he has been making waves, both as a producer in the underground scene, and–more recently–as an incredibly versatile vocal act, moving from singing to rapping, and even screaming in various different self-produced tracks. Evoke’s releases through Simplify, SectionZ, and other reputable underground labels have earned support from major promotional networks, including EDM.com, MrSuicideSheep, MrMomMusic, and several others.
His sound is characterized by an intense ethereal vibe, pulling the listener through dynamic and quickly evolving tracks, with his airy yet powerful voice cutting through deep and booming production. He deviates from electronic conventions, with virtually no “drops” in his compositions. Instead, he chooses to use alternative pop arrangements, with an emphasis on quick and impactful transitions, and meaningful lyricism. With clever wordplay, and a voice that is only getting stronger and more dynamic with time, Evoke is an act to be watched carefully as he sets up for the coming years.
